By Adamu Muhammad

‎The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle with 18 rounds of live ammunition in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area.

‎This was contained in a press release signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

‎The police said the arrest followed an earlier operation where two suspected bandits were killed, a N10 million ransom was recovered, and a kidnapped victim was rescued in the forest.

‎On October 18, 2026, at about 6:30 a.m., operatives attached to the Doguwa Division, working with local hunters known as ‘Yan Bula’, combed the forest and its surroundings. Their goal was to arrest fleeing suspects and recover operational weapons.

‎During the operation, the security team recovered the AK-47 rifle and arrested one Ibrahim Rabiu of Yardoka Village, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State.

‎The police said during investigation, the rescued victim identified Rabiu as the person who used to guard him at night while in captivity. The victim said the suspect brought him food and also beat him mercilessly.

‎‎The suspect has been moved to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department CID, Anti Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation. The police are working to arrest his accomplice who is still at large and recover more exhibits linked to the crime.

‎‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the courage and resilience of the ‘Yan Bula’ hunters. He said their efforts continue to support Operation Kukan Kura in securing the Falgore Forest axis and other communities.

‎‎The Command reassured the public of its commitment to fighting banditry and other violent crimes. It urged residents to keep providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
