‎INEC Sets December 15 for Final Voters’ Register ‎

By Adamu Muhammad

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has announced that the final voters’ register for the 2027 elections will be ready on December 15, 2026.

‎INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, shared this news during a meeting with staff in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

‎He also spoke about the reports of fake Artificial intelligence generated photos in the early voter list. He said INEC is checking the photos and will fix any errors found. He asked Nigerians to help by checking the list and reporting any mistakes before the final list comes out.

‎‎To prepare for the elections, Amupitan said INEC is buying 57,000 new BVAS machines to verify voters. They are also checking their computer systems to make sure results are sent correctly.

‎‎The Chairman confirmed that the South South region has over 15 million registered voters, with Rivers State having over 3.7 million. He promised that nobody will be stopped from voting.

‎‎Because many areas in the South South are near water, INEC has made a deal with the Maritime Transporters Union to help carry election materials safely to these hard to reach places.

‎Amupitan gave a strong warning. He said anyone who attacks election workers or NYSC members will face the law. He also warned INEC staff to be honest and not cheat.
