‎Tinubu Commends EFCC as FBI Praise Lifts Nigeria’s Global Image ‎

By Adamu Muhammad

‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC after the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI sent a letter praising the agency. The President said this recognition is good for Nigeria’s image around the world.

‎A statement from his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, said the President described the FBI’s letter as a proud moment for the country and proof that Nigeria is doing better in fighting financial crimes.

‎‎The FBI Director, Kash Patel, wrote to the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to thank the agency for its help in a joint operation called “Operation Artemis.” The operation targeted criminals who sexually exploit and extort children. It led to the arrest and return of two Nigerian suspects, Adebola Festus Adekunle and Mudasiru Afeez Olawale, who are now facing charges in the US.

‎President Tinubu said this success did not happen by chance. He linked it to his government’s reforms, which have helped clean up the country’s financial system. He noted that Nigeria was recently removed from the FATF grey list in October 2025 and the European Union’s high-risk list in January 2026.

‎‎The President said these achievements show his government is working hard to gain the world’s trust. He added that a better global image will help bring real foreign businesses and investments into the country.

‎He urged the EFCC and other security agencies to keep up the good work, promising them his full support to protect Nigerians and keep the country’s name high on the world stage.
