NU Synergy has officially launched its Compressed Natural Gas CNG project at Zaria Road, Kano State, aimed at providing cheaper and cleaner energy for transportation.
The launch, which took place on Saturday, was attended by government officials, members of the press, and key stakeholders in the energy sector. The Commissioner of Transportation, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the event.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Commissioner Dederi commended NU Synergy for the investment. He noted that the project is a practical contribution to transforming Kano’s transport and energy ecosystem. It will bring massive benefits to transport operators, businesses, commuters, and the wider state economy.
The Commissioner emphasized that CNG is a vital part of Nigeria’s economic and transportation future. He assured that the initiative will significantly reduce fuel costs and make transportation cheaper for the people of Kano.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of NU Synergy, Najashi Uba, dedicated the milestone to his father, whom he described as his hero. “Whatever I have built begins with the values you taught me: integrity, hard work, and service to humanity,” Uba said.
He urged Kano residents to embrace the CNG alternative, stating that it is the best solution to the rising price of fuel. “CNG is our answer to the rising price of fuel, and gas is cheaper,” he said. He assured that NU Synergy is committed to safe operations, reliable supply, and fair treatment for every customer, adding that “our integrity is everything.”
Also speaking, the Head of the CNG Initiative, Ismael Ahmed, declared that Nigeria is now a gas country, not an oil country. He described CNG as the future because it is cheaper and safer than many people believe.
Ahmed, however, issued a safety warning, advising the public to avoid using regular cylinders for CNG. He noted that using uncertified cylinders is highly risky and can lead to the loss of lives and property. He urged users to strictly follow the proper conversion procedures.
