A group known as PRP Vanguard says it will go to court to stop the alleged takeover of the Peoples Redemption Party PRP and the illegal selling of election tickets.
The group blamed a faction led by Hakeem Baba Ahmed for taking over the party.
The group said the faction has turned the PRP into a market where 2027 election tickets are sold to the highest bidders. It claimed the presidential ticket was sold to a rich politician, and a secret deal was made for the Bauchi State governorship ticket.
The group also accused INEC of supporting the faction. It said INEC recognized a party leader who was never elected by the party’s executives.
The PRP Vanguard said it will not sit back and watch the party’s history be destroyed.
”The PRP Vanguard will proceed to the courts to put an end to the lack of democratic governance, party hijacking, and election tickets racketeering being perpetrated by the Hakeem clique,” the group stated in the document.
It said it is fighting to bring back the original values of the PRP, which it claims the current leaders have sold for money
