The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of working for President Bola Tinubu’s political interests.
The council alleged that Kwankwaso is doing this by urging former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step down from the 2027 presidential race in favour of Peter Obi.
The Director of Media and Publicity for the ADC campaign council, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the allegation in a statement on Friday. He was reacting to an interview Kwankwaso had with Channels Television.
Ologbondiyan described Kwankwaso’s position as self serving. He alleged that it could deepen divisions among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election.
He asked why Kwankwaso was focusing on opposition leaders instead of challenging the Tinubu administration over economic hardship, hunger, poverty, and insecurity.
The ADC campaign council also alleged that Kwankwaso’s position was influenced by his political ambitions beyond 2027, including a possible bid for the presidency in 2031.
It further disputed claims that Kwankwaso’s support is essential for any candidate seeking votes in Kano State. It cited previous presidential elections as evidence.
The council urged Kwankwaso and his supporters to reconsider their position and support Atiku Abubakar, whom it described as its preferred candidate to challenge Tinubu in 2027.
