The Kano State Multi-Agency Taskforce on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has arrested a wanted suspect, Malam Keya, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Chairman of the taskforce, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, confirmed the arrest during an exclusive interview with Kano Live 24 TV.
He said the suspect is currently being questioned and will be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
Keya fled Kano after the taskforce raided several communities to curb gang violence in the state.
Among the places raided by the team includes Jakara, Madigawa, Yalwa, Sanka, Kul Kul, Dogon Nama, Kuka Bulukiya, Dala, Shatsari, and Dandalin Turawa.
Authorities identified Keya as a key figure behind the violence and disturbances in these areas.
After the raids disrupted his network, he escaped to Rivers State to avoid arrest.
Acting on credible information, operatives tracked him to Port Harcourt and took him into custody.
He has since been brought back to Kano, where he is currently being held.
