‎A Sharia Court in Jogana, Kano State, has postponed the ₦5.2 million lawsuit against popular TikTok creator Fatima Ta Batul to November 11, 2026.

‎‎The presiding judge, Kamal Haruna Durumin Iya, moved the case to this new date to rule on whether the court has the legal right to hear the matter.

‎‎The person who filed the suit, Muhammad Abdulkadir, wants to recover the money he spent on Fatima while trying to marry her. He claimed she led him on, played with his emotions, and wasted his money under the false hope that she would marry him, before she finally said no.

‎‎During the latest court sitting, Abdulkadir’s lawyer, Barrister Yasir Garba Mukhtar, said the prosecution is fully ready to continue with the main hearing.

‎However, Fatima’s lawyer, Barrister Mustapha Salisu Madugu, objected. He told the court that it does not have the authority to handle this kind of case.

‎‎The court had planned to give its ruling on this objection during the last sitting, but the judge postponed it to the next date so a final decision can be made.
