‎Court Admits DSS Evidence Against NYSC Kidnap Suspects

By Adamu Muhammad

A High Court in Imo State has accepted the evidence presented by the Department of State Services DSS against five people accused of kidnapping 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps NYSC members on Independence Day.

‎At the resumed hearing, a key witness, Ikem Emmanuel, told the court that the suspects confessed to the crimes. He provided audio visual recordings of their confessions, their written statements, as well as the firearms and money recovered from them.

‎‎The witness confirmed that the suspects gave their statements in the presence of their own lawyers and DSS legal officers.

‎Presiding Judge, Justice Emeka Orafu, admitted the items as evidence. He ordered that the firearms and the recovered money be kept safely in the custody of the DSS.

‎‎In a related case involving two other kidnap suspects, the DSS officer also presented similar evidence, including audio recordings, written statements, and recovered naira notes.

‎Justice Orafu adjourned the cases to October 28, 29, and 30 for further hearings. He ordered that all five defendants remain in DSS custody until then.
