The Jigawa State Government has sponsored 65 scholars to China for postgraduate studies in agriculture. The group consists of 50 master’s students and 15 PhD candidates.
Speaking at their farewell on Tuesday, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi said transforming agriculture requires investing in research, technology, and human capacity, not just providing farm equipment.
He urged the departing scholars to remain focused and respect the laws and culture of China. He reminded them that the trip is funded by public resources, stressing that they have a duty to return home and use their new skills to serve the people of Jigawa State.
The Governor congratulated the scholars and their families, praying for their success and a safe journey.
