A man, Sanusi Dankaka, has been sent to prison for allegedly threatening to leak nude photos and videos of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Facebook.

‎‎The Federal High Court in Abuja gave the order on Monday. Justice Salim Ibrahim ordered that Dankaka be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until his trial.

‎‎Dankaka was brought to court by the Department of State Services DSS on a two-count charge of cybercrime. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

‎‎According to the DSS, Dankaka made the threat in October 2026 from Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. The agency said he falsely claimed on his Facebook page that he had the videos and photos and threatened to release them to the public.

‎‎The DSS explained that he shared the false message to cause annoyance, insult, and injury to the Governor. The agency noted that the offence violates the Cybercrime Act of 2015.

‎During the hearing, the DSS lawyer, Yusuf Afegbua, asked the court for a trial date and requested that the suspect be remanded. The defense lawyer, Kauna Penzin, did not oppose the request.

‎Justice Ibrahim adjourned the case to December 7 for trial.
